Hey! What’s up fam, My name is Rashawn “Dead Rich Shawn" Harrison AkA “The Young-Deal”. I’m an up and coming artist hailing from Paterson, NJ. better known as; “D.T.H" that's, short for “Down The Hill”. I’ve been reciting my own music since I was 13 years old. Back then, I didn’t even know what a 16* (16 bars containing a Hip-Hop verse) was or what it was used for, I just knew I could rap without having to write it down, just letting the words flow from my mind like a river of fire and perspective knowledge. My favorite artists is “Big-L” for his word play and versatility , “Lil-Wayne” because of his metaphors and sharp hood wit, “2pac” for his preach of pain in every bar, the struggle in which we all can relate in each line.
I remember taking an old “Rahkim” tape (don’t remember which one it was to be honest) that belonged to my uncle, just so I could record myself rapping over the “Shook ones" instrumental threw a radio and cassette recording. I started taking music seriously when I turn 18, allowing its spirit to take shelter in me gave me not only trimendous talent but purpose as well. An old head of mines introduced me to a friend of his named “Hostile", a Maan whom introduced me to making music in my own likeness. From then on, I knew I was born to bless the mic with harmonies and lyrics that'll get the people moving!
Wanting to know how a record was put together with slight struggle as expected but at most times, came with ease. From writing bar for bar lyrics into a verse, to recording myself and finding "My Sound", mixing, mastering and much more. Music making is not just a passion for me, it is and will forever be; My First Love. It has taught me the meanings of different aspects of life threw way of the word as well as through empathy and the way of the world. I then met my mentor, my big brother Malik “Dilly-Illz” Johnson, who taught me how to compose a song, count bars and how music should always have feel, a vibe that is provided by the artist that triggers his or her listeners to either dance, laugh, cry, think or nostalgically enjoy the moment while it lasts. I also have an associates degree in audio engineering amongst my many other skills,
And I write, record, mix and master my own music utilizing those skills as of today. I've performed on the 106 & Park TV show on B.E.T, the MTV Battles as well as the B.E.T Spring Bling! Only thing left for me to do now is live my dreams as I accomplish one goal after the another... -Rashawn Harrison
